PhanthyMotus goes from open source to co-building
At a launch event witnessed by more than ten embodied-AI hardware makers, PhanthyMotus opened its developer incentive programme: a shared hardware pool for remote debugging and free compute tokens for contributors.

From Open Source to Co-Building
At an event witnessed by more than ten embodied-AI hardware makers and partners — among them UBTECH, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, Robot Era, Songyan Dynamics, and Baioneke — PhanthyMotus announced its ecosystem co-building programme, opening a developer incentive plan and setting out the next set of goals.
The Problem: A Structural Mismatch
Embodied AI is entering its breakout window, but developers who want in usually get a cold shower first: faced with dozens of different humanoids, quadrupeds, and manipulators on the market, your algorithm often has to be written from scratch for each one.
This isn't an isolated frustration. The mismatch runs across all three sides of the industry:
- Developers are boxed in by a very high hardware barrier. Code can't be reused across platforms, and brilliant open-source algorithms often die during integration, inside the lab.
- Hardware makers are dragged into endless scenario-specific adaptation and custom delivery work, leaving little focus for the hardware itself.
- Industry customers hold an enormous number of real scenarios but wait a long time for deployable products, because hardware capabilities aren't unified and standardised solutions don't exist.
Until the three are decoupled, the industry burns itself out on duplicated work. For robots to genuinely take up jobs, somebody has to lay the roadbed first.
As Yuqiang Chen, co-founder and Chief Scientist of 4Paradigm, put it: embodied AI has moved from competing on individual technologies to competing as systems and ecosystems, and the market urgently needs a unified foundation. That is exactly what the PhanthyMotus community set out to be — a general-purpose middle layer that connects hardware, algorithms, and scenarios, so that each party can go back to doing what it does best.
Two Months In: Full-Platform Support
The idea found a fast response. Two months after launch, the community has drawn developers from across the industry — Unitree, AgiBot, DJI, EngineAI, UBTECH, DEEP Robotics, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, ROBOTERA, Songyan Dynamics, PNDbotics, RealMan, BrainCo, UBTECH Leju, BOOSTER, TITA, LimX Dynamics, AgileX, UniX AI, Franka Robotics, Qianxing, and Linker Hand among them.
Through the community's collective work, so far:
- 600,000+ lines of contributed high-quality code
- 15+ mainstream platforms adapted
- 200+ standardised hardware driver modules, spanning humanoids, quadrupeds, wheeled robots, drones, manipulators, and underwater robots
Which means: whether you have a quadruped or humanoid from Unitree, DJI, EngineAI, DEEP Robotics, or Leju, a manipulator from RealMan, TITA, Franka, or AgileX, or one of the newer forms from Songyan Dynamics, LimX Dynamics, or BrainCo — PhanthyMotus already supports it at the foundation layer. Developers no longer need to rewrite a driver or redesign skills for each robot; reuse costs nothing.
The Developer Incentive Programme: Tokens and Hardware Are On Us
Today we're extending a formal invitation to developers everywhere. To make getting started genuinely zero-barrier, the community is launching its developer incentive programme:
- A fully open hardware pool — 4Paradigm is opening a shared, all-category hardware resource pool so developers can debug a wide range of platforms remotely. No more being blocked by "I don't have the robot to run this on."
- Compute tokens, fully covered — Free compute tokens for every developer contributing code or building the community, with compute supply guaranteed end to end, so your ideas never stall on resources.

By the end of 2026 we plan to reach, together with community developers:

- 500+ AI algorithms across high-level reasoning and low-level control
- 10,000+ shared community skills
